Membership is open to anyone interested in long boarding, or supporting us as a social member. You can complete the forms on our homepage or just come along to a club day and we will assist you in person.
Safety is our top priority. While some ocean experience can be helpful, all surfers are welcome. This is a club, not a school, so members are responsible for judging their own ability in the water. If you’re comfortable paddling out and catching small waves, you can enjoy surfing with us. Many members start as beginners and gradually build confidence by surfing with others at their own pace.
Typically a 9ft (and above) longboard/s, but beginners are encouraged to bring whatever board they have. If you need support, we can help you find a suitable board or arrange to borrow one for a short period.
You may also need surf gear such as a wetsuit appropriate for the conditions, a leash and wax. As a club, we don’t provide equipment permanently, so members are responsible for bringing what they need.
Our key location is the south end of Catherine Hill Bay, at the second carpark just down from the Catho Surf Club. Occasionally, we move to other nearby locations depending on conditions, such as the Graveyard (north Catherine Hill Bay). Last year, several competitions were held at Blacksmiths due to surf conditions.
Club Day is generally held on the last Sunday of each month, excluding January. Due to Australia Day, registration and the first competition are pushed back to 1 February, meaning there will be two competitions in February. If weather or conditions are too dangerous, we may also postpone a competition by one week. We aim to update members as early as possible about the location and schedule for each club day.
Each competition has an entry fee of $10, which includes a drink and BBQ. Competitions are open to non-members and social members.
Membership registration costs $79 per registration form.
Members are also responsible for their own personal gear costs, such as wax, sunscreen, wetsuits, and any other equipment they choose to bring.
